Welcome back to Let’s Get Dressed, a newsletter where I share my endeavors in fashion — what I’m wearing, shopping, trying on, and thinking about — to give you some inspiration for the week ahead. It’s my fashion diary, except I’m actually letting you look inside.

Green is my absolute favorite color to style. Consider it a neutral and it will forever change how you get dressed. I have a pair of olive jeans I wear on repeat with a white tee for those days where I want something cooler than my classic blues. My emerald green L19 gets just as much wear as my classic black bags at this point. Alessandro Michele, the Creative Director of Valentino, recently said on Bella Freud’s Fashion Neurosis, “I think being chic is you have something wrong on the perfect look,” and sometimes a pop of green can be your perfect wrong.

All that to say, I was thrilled to see green splashed across the Paris runways this summer, from the layered looks in Michael Rider’s Celine debut to that incredible Kelly green coat at Jonathan Anderson’s first Dior show. Fun fact: Kelly green gets its name from Ireland, where Kelly is a common family name and the shade symbolizes the country’s lush, joyful landscape. The color later became synonymous with American prep, which was also a prominent motif throughout Anderson’s collection. It’s the unofficial color of effortless cool — easy, but still bold. I feel like we’re about to see way more preppy fashion trending soon, too. (Paging J.Crew… it’s your time to shine.)

While the runways gave us plenty of fall inspiration, Kelly green is also the perfect color to wear right now. Hailey Bieber said butter yellow is over so let me give you the next summer color to fixate on. Here are a few of my favorite ways to style it:

Anine Bing jeans ($196), Aureum Collective belt ($195), J.CREW sweater ($139.50), Jenni Kayne button down ($225)
