10 Things I Loved This Week
An incredible vintage gown, the sneakers replacing my winter boots, and why I'm re-thinking tights.
Welcome back to Let’s Get Dressed, a weekly newsletter where I share my endeavors in fashion — what I’m wearing, shopping, trying on, and thinking about — to give you some inspiration for the week ahead. It’s my fashion diary, except I’m actually letting you look inside.
“Are tights the plastic straws of the fashion industry?” — Each year, 8 billion pairs of tights are produced, worn once and then discarded, says Stockholm-based brand, Swedish Stockings. This week they launched a collaboration with Camille Charriere called “For the Girls” with tights made of 80% recycled materials. These Nora tights are replacing the few pairs I have (that definitely all have holes in them).
This dress from Oscar de la Renta’s Resort 2012 collection— I’m heading to New Zealand in two weeks for a wedding and have been on the hunt for a great dress. I stopped into LA’s vintage store Decades and found this - very Serena van der Woodsen coded.
Salem Mitchell’s new puzzle brand — Salem Goods launched on Friday and sold out immediately, with a few more styles “coming soon.” I’m so ready for the puzzle renaissance. Give me chic photos!
Mohair sweaters — I think Brooke Puth has incredible style and when she posted this look from Thanksgiving, I swooned. I’ve been seeing mohair everywhere - it’s the same warmth as cashmere but adds a bit more of a fuzzy oomph to a look. I like the one below from COS ($170), this cardigan from J.CREW ($158), and my favorite Guest in Residence coat ($1,195).
Velvet scrunchies — the queen of good accessories, Christina Nadin, was on this week’s episode of Let’s Get Dressed and she shared the latest holiday drop from her hair accessories brand, Bahay Kubo. She also shared her go-to loafer sock, her best tips for an at-home blowout, and the skincare brand she loves most.
Suede sneakers — These sneakers have completely replaced the seasonal boot discourse. There’s something so effortlessly cool about them. I love how Tania Sarin styles them. I recommend the Alohas ($180), Jeffery Campbells ($115), Zara ($69.60), or Miu Miu ($895).
Dior Contour Stick — I’m not very meticulous when it comes to doing my makeup, so I love a good contour and blush stick for easy application. If you want to hear more beauty tips, I was on this week’s episode of the Breaking Beauty podcast and shared my capsule beauty wardrobe, BTS from my wedding makeup, and more. PS: if you use sticks like this, I learned you should alway apply them with a brush and not directly on the skin.
The perfect hoodie — this week was one of those hectic weeks where every morning I woke up and put on the same outfit, which is usually a cool pair of pants and a hoodie. This Aritzia one fits in all the right places.
The Dachshund of handbags — has anyone been noticing these super skinny handbags? Loving the ones from Alaia ($2,450) and Freja ($298). You can use my code LIV20 for $20 off at Freja.
My 2024 holiday gift guide - If you’re still on the hunt for a good gift for anyone on your list at any price range, my guide this year is one of my best yet. I recommend the chicest hand cream under $100, a great tote under $500, or this cozy sweater.
